will my UK sony ericsson k750i work abroad?
Hello everyone, im after your expertise! I am travelling to Poland, Czech Rup,Austria,Hungry and Croatia this summer, and was wondering if my old sony ericsson 750i will work over there? I dont get the whole dual band/tri band thing- so your help would be much appreciated! thanks in advance everyone :-)

first you must have international roam then ask your mobile company their system is compatible with those countries

- Dual/tri/quad bands are all GSM frequency bands, which are basically the frequency ranges that GSM mobile phones can work in. Your phone is tri band, it supports GSM 900 / 1800 / 1900 frequencies. - GSM 900 and 1800 phones can be used in most parts of the world: Europe, Middle East, Africa and most of Asia - GSM 1900 phones are used in USA, Canada and many other countries in America. The countries you're planning on travelling to, fit into these bands. - Before you go though, if you're planning on using a foreign sim card in your phone, make sure you've had the phone unlocked. Or if you're gonna be using your UK sim in it, then call your network provider and ask them to set you up for international roaming, and advise you of the call/text charges, and maybe they could set you up on an international package that would suit your calling/texting needs when abroad. No. European phones use a system called GSM, and Virgin Mobile uses an incompatible system called CDMA. All European countries use the same GSM system, so the same phone will work in all of them. Get a cheap phone in the first country you visit, load it up with a reasonable amount of airtime, and just use it. I've bought an adequate phone in the UK for 10 pounds ($16) and the airtime cost about 30 cents/min in the UK and 50 cents/min in other countries.

I believe there's also a phone carrier called Virgin Mobile in the UK, but the US incarnation is different. Virgin Mobile USA uses Sprint's network, and their phones use CDMA technology (just like Sprint's). In Europe, there's no CDMA service, so your phone won't work there. You could try asking Virgin Mobile USA's customer service whether they have any kind of rental agreement with a European carrier, so that you could rent a phone in Europe and pay for calls out of your current balance, but even if they do, it'll probably be cheaper to just find a cheap phone to rent or buy once you get there. The good news is you shouldn't need to get a separate phone for each country. All of Europe uses GSM technology on the same radio frequencies, and once you have a phone that works in any European country, it should work in all of them.
