Why didn't Bismarck take on Austria and merge it under Germany

Why didn't Bismarck take on Austria and merge it under Germany?
And had Austria anything in common with Hungary that led to their merger? How did that system work nevertheless?

1 :
First question-Austria. Bismark was hesitant, one, to take on Austria, because doing so, would have surely gotten him attacked by every European power at that point. England, Russia, and France (especially) did not take kindly to emerging powerful nations wiping old established kingdoms off of the map. Germany was treading lightly as it was, in an attempt to prevent France from attacking (Germany assimilated parts of territory formerly claimed by France). The best practical way to do this was to ally with its enemies...especially Austria. Secondly-the alliance with Hungary. The Austrian empire was extremely culturally diverse, and the Austrians were in fact a minority. The Hungarians made up a majority of the peoples in the empire, and rather than risk these people rebelling for autonomy (and taking with them a chunk of the empire), Austria merely instituted a "dual-monarchy" with their leadership, in which the leadership of the empire was to be split between the Austria and Hungary.
2 :
Bismarck was a conservative nation builder so he just wanted to create a united Germany without upsetting the balance of power in Europe too much. If he would have tried to annex Austria-Hungary, the German Empire would have become the most powerful nation in Europe and alarmed the British, French, and Russians. Also, Bismarck realized that the Balkan portion of Austria-Hungary was an ethnic war waiting to explode like it did in WWI. Austria-Hungary was a dual monarchy with two separate states (Emperor of Austria and the King of Hungary) with one monarch and a unified defense, diplomatic, and trade policy. There was an Austrian Diet and a Hungarian Diet with differing rules and franchise.
3 :
Austria was AUSTRIA! They LIKED being their own country - hence, no more Austro-Hungarian Empire which is a completely different issue. But obviously - THAT didn't work either. Hitler couldn't get them to "voluntarily" join with Germany. The Anschluss was a sham. The Austrians liked being Austrians. Should we go merge with Canada without their input and/or consent? Same thing.
4 :
Bismarck had too much sense. He didn't want the problems of dealing with the many non-Germans in the Habsburg Empire. Austria, Hungary and all the other territories were either dynastic inheritances or reconquered from the Turks. The 1867 Ausgleich wasn't a merger but just the opposite. Hungary got autonomy with just Ruler, Army, Foreign policy and economy in common with Austria It worked by allowing the Hungarians to dominate the non-Hungarian peoples of historic Hungary.

As your wife is an EU citizen there are no restrictions on her, she can live and work in the UK . You as her spouse are entitled to apply for a spouse visa which will allow you to also live and work there as long as you meet their standard requirements. http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Employment/Understandingyourworkstatus/Migrantworkers/DG_181870 Edit - Came across this site where the info you need is explained better. http://www.ind.homeoffice.gov.uk/partnersandfamilies/partners/

there is nothing that can prepare you for being alone in such a holiday! all i can say its try to enjoy it as much as you can! knowing that your love ones will be missing you as much or more! good luck
2 :
People in austria are very friendly, so while your there try to get to know some of the locals and see how they spend the holiday. Or you could even see what festivites are happening around your area. but as for as being home sick, try to keep in touch with your family as often as you can. call them on christmas or christmas eve, it will probably make you fill more at home.
3 :
keep as busy as possible and join in festivities all you can. I assume your job is travel related or resort related so you will meet new people etc.
4 :
Maybe bring a small (aritifical of course) cmas tree with you to austrailia and decorate it. Rent some christmas movies. Call your family :) on Christmas! Try to keep yourself busy/occupied! My younger sister is studying abroad in England this year and won't be here for christmas either. Her first cmas w/o the family. Just remember its just this year :) next year u can make it a GREAT cmas!!

Hittler was from Austria, but he was allowed to govern Germany, why

Hittler was from Austria, but he was allowed to govern Germany, why?
? i mean, in most countries, you can't work in the government, if you weren't born in that country. Hitler was born and raised in Austria, so why was he allowed to be involved in the german government? in the past, germany and austria were considered a same country? is it also like that, today? can an austrian man be president of Germany?
History - 5 Answers

1 :
Hitler was in charge because he proved himself on the battlefield. he was a heavily decorated soldier before he became a dictator.
2 :
he had the power. an no one dared to raise legal issues for fear of life
3 :
He was Volksdeutsche which consisted of anybody with Ethnic German lineage. Which according to the Nuremburg Laws of 1935, anybody that was Ethnic German (Volksdeutsche) had the same standing as if they were actually born in Germany proper. Regardless of where anybody was born and/or raised, be it in the U.S., Canada, China or on the Moon or anywhere for that matter, if they were Volksdeutsche (Ethnic German), they were the same as being a regular German Citizen according to the Nuremburg Laws.
4 :
Actually, in most countries, so long as a person is a citizen of the country for a certain amount of time, they can serve in the government. However, to be the president, one generally must be born in the country. Hitler, rather like the US's current president, Obama, had so much support, that this basic law was overlooked entirely.
5 :
Hitler became a naturalised German in 1933, so he was officially a German. American law does not apply in Europe in any case so just because your President must be born in America does not mean that rule applies in other countries. Don't I recall an Austrian movie star became Governor of California in the recent past? Not exactly President but not far off.

It is VERY HARD and usually is not possible for a non-E.U. citizen to get a job in Austria. The only way for you to get a job over there is if you are already working for an international company in the U.S. that has offices in Austria, and you get transfered over there. Your best bet, being that you speak German and used to live in Germany for about 10 years, is to see if you can get into the civilian IT dept at a U.S. military base in Germany, and just visit Austria on your days off.

As a US citizen you are subject to the US tax laws, as you know, and this includes a sizable "tax credit" for overseas income. I believe it is around $87,000, beyond which you will owe US taxes. In any case, it may be advisable to continue filing IRS returns every year.

If you have lost your passport you must report the loss to the nearest police station and obtain a replacement passport/temporary passport from the Embassy of Ireland, Kirchenfeldstraße 68, 3005 Bern, Switzerland. A temporary passport may also be issued by the Honorary Consul of Ireland, Claridenstrasse 25, 8027 Zurich. Austria is member of the European Union, same as Ireland. Temporary travel documents of Irish citizens are also recognized in Austria. Although there are no border controls between Switzerland and Austria you should not risk to travel without proper documentation. It may, it may not. The economies in Europe are slowing down, which is causing the euro to lose value against the US$. I believe the trend over the near term is a continued weakening of the euro against the US$, but this could reverse quickly if any additional bad US economic news is released. Don't forget that as the US$ strengthens, you will get more US$ per euro (as the euro weakens, it takes more euros to buy a dollar). So from your point of view, the dollar IS currently recovering.
2 :
Depends on how long you are willing to wait If you have no need of the money then put it away for the day that it goes back up. Frankly I think that it might go down some more before it goes back up. The American dollar has moved up for the last 10-11 weeks and I think that it is going to go further. I will tell you why but in as few words as possible, oil is traded in American dollars and the oil barons are now more confident in the American dollar. It appears that the dollar gain is directly reflected in the cost of a barrel of oil and now it keeps going down. With the downward trend in the cost of oil, then there is an upward trend in American currency

When immigrating, what is the penalty for having worked illegally in the US in the past

When immigrating, what is the penalty for having worked illegally in the US in the past?
My husband (an American) has filed an I-130 petition for me (a Belarusian) to immigrate to the United States. I am filling out the DS-230 and I see that they ask about past employment. Nine years ago when I was in the US on a B1/B2 visa I worked illegally as a waitress and hotel maid for 1 year. Of course I will disclose this on the DS-230. Please, does any one know what will the penalty be? Will they deny my immigration application? That would be horrible: my husband and daughter are both American. We currently live/work in Austria and are applying at the US Embassy in Vienna. Once we are able, we will move, as a family, to the US permanently. Thank you for your advice.

Being denied a visa, being deported, and banned from any travel to the US for 10 years.
3 :
You will be punished by being forced to buy a house you can't afford. In the name of fairness of course!
4 :
There might be some adverse consequences or you may be forgiven. One important item will be how long you overstayed when you were working without permission. Did you stay in the U.S. for a year or more longer than authorized? When you were hired at the hotel, did they ask you for evidence that you were allowed to work in the U.S.? What did you show them? A fake green card? A U.S. birth certificate in someone else's name? A fake Social Security card? That's important. Did you pay income taxes on your earnings? When was the last time you were in the U.S.? All these issues need to be addressed. The more honest you are about them, the better are your chances for forgiveness.
5 :
More than likely, your application will be denied and a ban imposed.
6 :
I believe you will be denied based on your illegal work when you were in this country before. They may not want to give you another chance, and therefore, you could be banned for life. Your husband and child will have to get used to living in your own country with you.
7 :
If the visa is denied due to your violation, you should be able to receive a waiver. The consul will advise you of the procedure.

Online is a great way to go. You might want to talk to your bank and get a recommendation. Also, consider going with something international like HSBC or ING. They may have greater flexibility for transferring funds internationally.
2 :
What I would do is get a credit card from the austrian bank. As long as you get a mastercard or visa, it will be good no matter where you use it. Pay all your bills with the credit card and just pay off the credit card online if the bank has a good website.

There is no such thing as a maximum amount you are allowed to carry to Austria as long as you can prove where the money comes from.Anyway the limit Banks have to start checking the provenience of money is 10.000,- Euros. But double check if you are allowed to take the money out where you have it now to bring it to Austria. EDIT: Unlike in the US in Austria, Switzerland and also in Germany it is not considered weired to carry larger amounts of cash with you (as long as this cash is legally earned of course ;-) ), also it is not unsafe to do so in these countries contrarily to the other answer.
3 :
transporting large ammount of cash isn't a good idea. WHy don't you just open an account here and when you fly back to wherever you are - you can safely tranfer the money through your bank.

Projected value of the US dollar

Projected value of the US dollar?
Within the next 3 months does the US dollar expect to gain strength or keep losing it? The reason I ask is because I'm an Austrian-American and working in Austria at the moment, and want to know if it would be better for me to wait 3 months until I leave and then transfer my money at hopefully a higher rate (1.6 usd to euros) rather than for it to fall to a lower rate (like 1.2 usd to euros) Right now it's at about 1.48 USD to Euro.

Well the dollars slide against the Euro has stopped and occilated back and forth in the past two months or so. If inflation keeps rising in Europe, or they start easing interest rates as well due to the housing slow down and credit crunch, then there will be downward pressure on the Euro too. Also the relatively lower oil prices now of around 87 to 90 dollars a barrel apposed to 100 means a lower net outflow of dollars which should bolster the dollar value a bit. So its a tough call in the next three months. Either way though, currencies dont move that much in that time frame. The dollar for instance last about 10-12% percent aginst the euro in the past year and that includes a large slide, which likely wont continue for the time being, so either way it will have a minimal effect for you. But keep in mind that predicting currency dirrection is very difficult and speculative.

How easy is it for a native English speaker to get a job as an English teacher or assistant in Austria

How easy is it for a native English speaker to get a job as an English teacher or assistant in Austria?
I am very interested in someday moving to Austria and this seems like a job I could do. I am an English major who is currently working on her Bachelors degree and I have taken 3 years of college German. I am also planning on going to Austria to study German at some point in the next 2 years. How difficult is it to find and attain such a job in Austria and does it pay fairly well? Do they have very high educational requirements for those who want to teach English? Thank you in advance for any answers! :-) Sannaparis - Yup, I'm American and I actually think I live in the same state as you. CA? lol

This information is not confirmed by any official sources, but it is what everybody says at university: High school: If you are qualified to teach a foreign language in your country at high school level most countries where that language is used in education will count that as a qualification for teaching your native language. Example: A person from the UK studies German at university level (at least to B.A. level - it could be that you have to have an M.A.) AND is qualified to teach German at high school level. They can teach English in Austria at high school level . In general, I think it is important that you have some sort of pedagogical/ language teaching qualification in addition to your language studies. Also, three years of college in German might not be considered enough. Universities and colleges: While the state high school system might be difficult to get into, but colleges and universities might be easier to access, as at that level, native speakers are sought after. However, you would have to have at least an M.A. Look at Fachhochschulen and Universitäten (Institut für Anglistik und Amerikanistik.) Private sector and community colleges: The good news is that English is taught in all schools, higher or lower, private or state run, community college, etc. There are a host of private language schools as well. For that (the private) sector, it would be good to have an internationally recognized certification for teaching English as a Second Language . Look at Cambridge Certificates for more information. Assistants: If you are American, this is real easy ;-) Look at the programmes operated by the Fulbright Commission. BTW what Wolfgang said about available jobs is only true for certain parts of the country. Also what he says about pay does not make sense, at least not for state run schools, as pay does not depend on the amount of applicants for one job!
2 :
To be honest it is very, very difficult, nearly impossible. We have so many teachers in Austria waiting for a job and there is a waitlist for five years or even more. The payment for teachers is not so good because there are plenty of young peaple who want to do this job. Regarding worl permission it depends where you are from. Citizens from the EU may work in nearly every job in Austria, for non-EU-citizens it is very difficult to get a working permit, especially if there are enough local people who are qualified for the same job. Sorry that I have no better news for you... Wolfgang
3 :
In general I agree with sannaparis. Nevertheless I am not sure if it is sufficient to be a native speaker of English an qualified to teach German in your home country to get a job as a highschool teacher. Schools have often native speakers as assistants, they accompany the teacher but mainly correct pronounciation but do not really teach. This is often done by students from abroad staying for a year or so and not having any academic degree so far. It might be easier in the university sector (assistant) as English is part of a lot of studies (economics etc). There might as well be exchange programs (or something similar)with Universities in your country. Also the private sector (language schools like Berlitz) or semi-private sector (Volkshochschulen, WIFI - run by the Austrian Chamber of Commerce and offering qualification courses for employed people, BFI similar to WIFI) which do not have such strict formal regulations as the school sector has. At a first step I suggest you contact the Austrian consulate in L.A. http://www.bmeia.gv.at/view.php3?r_id=2063&LNG=en&version= or the Austrian Embassy in Washington D.C. http://www.austria.org/ for more information - most probably they can also give you a contact in the Austrian Ministry of Education. I would also suggest that you try with your University if they have any contacts with Austrian Universities.

Would you hire someone to work for you based on their astrological sign

Would you hire someone to work for you based on their astrological sign.?
There is a bank in Austria that only hires Taurus Leo Capricorn and one other sign. They say that those signs work best in their bank. What are your thoughts on this?

i think that is stupid and in a way racist :D
2 :
that's just horrible! I mean, honestly.. if I was a manager who was hiring someone, and they were aquarius like me- and I LIKED them.. that might put them at a slight advantage. But I would never NOT hire someone that showed potential just because of their zodiac sign!
3 :
Well that's discriminatory.
4 :
I would hire someone to work for me based on their character, references and work experience.
5 :
How is that even legal? That's ridiculous seeing that not all Leos, Capricorns, and Taureans will work and act the same. I can't believe they're able to get away with that kind of thing. Personally, no I wouldn't hire someone based on their sign. I wouldn't even look at their birthday on the applications anyways. If they happened to mention their sign to me and it's one that I get along with I would be a little happy about it but it wouldn't sway my decision. I can't believe there are actually companies out there that hire based on astrological signs. That's crazy!
6 :
This is not legal in the United States. You are not allowed to discriminate due to race, color or creed, and astrology is a belief system, ergo it is a creed. Personally, I did not use astrology when I had to hire people for my department. I didn't even ask them their birth dates, but I am a Capricorn and I ended up hiring a Virgo and two Capricorns. So...
7 :
That makes no sense whatsoever.
8 :
That's rediculous, that is just getting to rediculous.

I would hire a lucky Sagittarius.
10 :
yea thats descrimination !
11 :
Funny and If i did not like the way my boss behaves, then id just seek another job; in reality they don't harass, humiliate or otherwise beat up people based on the sun sign, they just select employees of 4 sun signs. Considering that astrology is built around beliefs, i don't expect the majority of Autralian banks to end up hiring only leos and tauruses with relevant data to back up their point of view :).
12 :
haha! I hope not, because if that were the case, they would make me turn right back around as soon I told human resources I was a Libra
13 :
Amy Elric: Racism is when you are prejudiced against someone because of their race. How the hell is that racism? Personally, I find it interesting. I've always wanted to know how it would be to have people of a certain sign working in different parts of a company. I mean, there's no law against discriminating because of someones astrological sign.
14 :
Geez. Well it's a bit extreme, but it's not "racist" (as someone just mentioned) because the zodiac signs are not "races"... Technically it's not illegal (because it's never been challenged, and the legal definition of "astrology" as a belief system might stand to challeng, only because date of birth is not one of the current"protected" areas of law : race, age, sex, nationality, disability, or religion (1). If taken to court there may be some possible credence to going after the "age" angle, but only a little. (of course, this is the US law, not the Austrian law, which varies only slightly (2) As for morally, the people doing this are rather short sighted, since other aspects in a person's chart can better determine fiscal responsibility and the ability to conform within the corporate structure. A person with the 8th or 2nd in Scorpio or Taurus might do just fine in that environment, for example. My personal thoughts are purely practical. The employers here are missing out on a significant pool of talent by leaving out other Suns, and are setting a slightly frightening precedent by implementing such as hiring strategy. **I wonder if psychics hold grudges. oops. guess so. So much for being a christian.**
15 :
No I would never hire some one to work for me based on their astrological sign because it is discrimination. I would only hire some one to work for me based on their character, references and work experiences.
16 :
My sign is represented, yes! Nah, j/k. I heard japan hires (or used to) by blood type. Certain blood types are better for managerial positions, I think it's B?
17 :
No,that's discrimintory. Plus, not everyone is just the characteristics of their sun sign, that's only the tip of the iceberg...so it'd be really naive to hire someone because their a Capricorn and supposedly hard-working and rational to find that they aren't meerly that what so ever.

during the great depression why did countries not welcome jews trying to leave germany and austria?
a. jews were not allowed to work in banking b. theirr economic were strong c. many of those leave were scientists and artists d. jobs were scarce

We're not even in a depression today, but we hear a backlash against immigrants (some illegal) taking jobs. And the 1930's was an even more racist time - it was completely legal to specify the race, religion, gender, etc. of an open position.
2 :
D. is the answer that "they" want, but actually none of these are true. There was sufficient prejudice against Jews that even though the Allied nations knew about the restrictive laws and "work" camps in Germany, they did not relax immigration standards. For an interesting view of the subject, read "The Yiddish Policemen's Union" by Michael Chabon.
3 :
some countries did on a strict basis Britain took in children, but remember all Europe was suffering the ,the depression was at it's height when Hitler came to power lots of Jews manage to get out of Germany when Hitler came to power so why did so many stay and do not say because they were poor many industrial Jews stayed in Germany
4 :
The same reason I suspect that they have been expelled from over 109 countries over 2000 years. They created problems in all of the countries they lived in. e.g Communism was a Jewish invention and this lead to the deaths of millions under Stalin, Trotsky and other Jews. Jews were also instrumental in the African Slave Trade were over 50 million slaves died. People regarded their involvement in commerce as a corrupting influence particularly in light of the fact that they were one of the few groups charging exorbitant interest rates - usury (permitted in their religion).

Getting my taxes back

Getting my taxes back?
I'm currently working in Austria for the Winter season and have heard that many people get whatever they paid in taxes in a foreign country back. I saw the Pub 514 form and noticed that it said only certain countries were able to do this with America. My question is, does it work with Austria?

Can't answer the Austria question, but you do understand the money back is just a credit against your US taxes? The intent of the tax treaties (that's what you're talking about) is to prevent double taxation, not to let you live tax free. You'll pay US taxes on your worldwide income.
2 :
US citizens are taxed on their worldwide income. This means you will owe US income tax on money earned in Austria. You will be able to use any Austrian income tax paid as a credit against your US income tax on your Austrian income.

Mountainous Regions of France and Work

Mountainous Regions of France and Work?
Hi there, I am trying to find out, what parts are the most mountainous and popular. By this I mean, what are some major cities that are situated in/near mountains? Also, are there any cities in particular that generally have more jobs than other areas? I am planning to go to France to work, and I would prefer to be in the mountains (grew up in Austria), but mainly I am looking for a nice city that may offer a decent job. Any knowledge you can share about France would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

Look in the Rhone-Alpes area, I lived in Lyon, the closest big city to the mountains but it isn't in the mountains. The mountains are a day trip. Grenoble looked quaint and fun, I would want to live there, nestled in the mountains, has a university. Geneve is surrounded by mountains. That's what I know, look up a map with mountains shown -topographical maps - online there is some topography in http://www.franceproperty - and - information.com/map/ offrance and better information about the cities, how large, the kind of business, tourist oriented jobs perhaps, on Justtourfrance.com - Look up Lyon for a nice not obnoxious big city for jobs, and then nestled in the mountains are Geneve, not far from there smaller towns like Chamonix, Aix-les-Bains, Annecy, Annemasse, Chambery and Grenoble is a little bigger. Its called the Rhone-Alpes area. Wish I were getting a job in any of these places. Good luck. Oh yes, they like you better if you speak french and the paper work is unreal, the economy is hard to get a job in if you are a foreigner normally, probably more so now. The food is great around Lyon, people are a little more conservative but also friendly, the weather is great. Shopping in Lyon and near by is fairly easy. Big metro transport, trains are easy too. I loved driving through Austria to Vienna.
2 :
There is a place called Chamoniox in France. This is located around the French Alps into the Swiss Alps. You are able to take a tram that goes from one Alps to the other up from the small village of Chamonix but be prepared fro the cold weather! It can get very cold up there!!!

Feeling kinda lost

Feeling kinda lost..?
I'm lost. I feel like I'm wasting my life, but I don't know how to get it on track. My plans were to live in my native Austria, work the winter season in a bar, then snag a job as a computer repair tech and that's it. But somehow now that I look at it.... it's not very fulfilling. I want more out of life. I don't know, is it just a phase? It seems that every time I lay a general path for me to walk on, after being on that path for 6 months I get bored of it and want something else. And I can't really think of any job or anything that would fill that need. I feel like a dead weight right now. Uncertain what I should do, where I should go. All I know is that I was really truly happy when I was living with my best friend, but it's almost childish to want to live with him forever, seeing as how I've got a girlfriend and he does too and I doubt they really want to live like that. Plus I need something of a career to start. I can't just jump from job to job doing random things my whole life, there's no security in that. I can't start a family like that. I feel almost ahead of myself, since I'm only 20. Everyone my age is just thinking about the now and not about settling down and finding a permanent place in this world.

I think what you are feeling is very common for people your age, it's a transitionary stage. I am going through a similar thing as I enter mid life, which is another transitionary stage, it's like...OK, we've done that...now what? There are some "tools" available, like preference surveys, talent and interest surveys to help people determine what their skills and interests are to help them set goals for themselves. If nothing else, such surveys may remind us of some options that are available to us that we may have forgotten about or not thought of on our own. I don't think there is a clear or easy way to decide where to put our energies at such a time, part of it is going through the discomfort and lost feelings, it is a neccessary part of the process and not a sign that we are truly aimless or doing anything wrong. It is this feeling that will actually motivate us to find a direction. There is a restlessness inside us, a hunger that causes us to seek an answer. Sometimes just doing a chain of random jobs, meeting and speaking with a large variety of people puts something into motion. We find out what we don't like, which eliminates some things, and what does peak our curiosity. It also helps to keep in mind that whatever we choose now, we are not stuck with for the rest of our lives. In life we will have several transitionary stages when we will be able to, or required to change tracks. It is not as if the decision you make today will trap you forever. I don't really have an answer, I am going through the same thing, and asking myself the same questions as you...and trying this, and trying that, and wondering if I'll ever find something to put my energy into, then I remember that I've been here before, and if I keep my eyes and heart open, and am a little patient (though sometimes a little impatience is healthy too!) something will present itself. It always has. best to you!

Yes..You may have to purchase extra software that covers the Mexico area. I think any GPS company would have add-on software for it. I use Navigon and I know they have it for many other countries.
2 :
Has nothing to do with where you are, but everything to do with if you have maps for the area you are in. You'll have to get a navi-CD for mexico and put it in once you're in mexico, then it will work. it may need a few minutes to load into memory so be patient. As a matter of fact, chances are you'll have better GPS-sat-reception the farther south you go...up in the high north there's almost no coverage cuz most sats are on a much more southern orbit.

Different countries have different plug points.Even if its a 2pin some countries have a "pointy" end on the sides & some have rounded. So best u opt for an Universal adapter instead to be on the safe side.Happy hunting

Hi. Is this the correct way to say "have a nice weekend" to someone in Austria?
I'm learning German, and not sure if it is spoken is Austria exactly the same as in Germany. Does this work for "have a nice weekend," when spoken to an Austrian? "Habt ein schönes wochenende!" Thanks.

I know a little German and that sounds right to me and I think it's the same German but if you plan to go there you should know that it isnt Austria to them but Osterreich
2 :
Yes you have that correct. In Austria they do speak german but they also speak austrian (.......) The german language is much more common in northern austria so keep that in mind
3 :
"Habt ein schönes Wochenende!" is grammatically correct, but you wouldn't really say it, 'cause it's more like written language. Generally, you'd abbreviate it to "Schönes Wochenende!" or "(Ein) schönes Wochenende euch!" when you are talking casually.
4 :
If you're just talking to one person it's: "Hab ein schönes Wochenende!" ("Habt ein schönes Wochenende" is plural, when you talk to more people) You can also say "Ich wünsche dir ein schönes Wochenende" (lit.: "I wish you a nice weekend" - singular) or: "Ich wünsche euch ein schönes Wochenende" (the same in plural) In Austria there are indeed some different words than in Standard German, but I'm pretty sure you can phrase this sentence that way. ;)

Your cousin needs to establish an Electronic Statement of Guaranty (Elektronische Verpflichtungserklärung, EVE). He can do that at the Foreigners Registration Office (Bezirkspolizeikommissariat) in Vienna of the district he is living in. There are several offices in Vienna. He should know where to get it since that's the place he needed to be registered and get his residence permit issued. After he has given the Statement of Guaranty he will be issued an ID number which he needs to tell you. You in turn will tell this ID number to the Austrian Embassy so that they can download the EVE from the computer system of the Foreign Ministry..

How does a western union money order work from a foreign country to the usa

How does a western union money order work from a foreign country to the usa?
I sold a cd to a guy in Austria. I have dealt with him for many years and he has always paid promptly and on time, but recently his pay pal account became inactive for whatever reason. He is sending me a money order through western union, but my question is how do i cash it, Is this money in austrian currency or usa? And how do i pick it up? I havent dealt with western union before.lol
Immigration - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
basically they pay western union the money and a fee to send it, and you need the confirmation number from that person in order to pick up that money at a local western union near you as well as their name and phone number etc. You also need your id to prove who you are before they will give you the money. they give cash and also cheques for larger amounts. you dont have to pay a fee.....it helps if you know the currency they send in to give them an idea of the amount you are expecting. Just ask for the form for receiving money.
2 :
Well, I've sent money through Western Union internationally and I'm sure your money will be in dollars.
3 :
You should get paid in "local currency" AKA US dollars. You get the information from him, go to the Western Union Office and prove who you are. They will pay you in cash, check or a combination of the 2 depending on the amount and location.
4 :
Actually if its a money order, you wont have to have the money transfer control number, its a paper money order wich will arrive to your mail box its as if it was a check sent from austria, now you would be receving the money in USD, if its a regular money transfer it will also be available in USD and he should provide you the MTCN, you will go to any WU office nearby you and the agent will provide a yellow receiving form, In order for you to cash the MT (money transfer) you should know where is the money coming from, how much would you be expecting and the name of the person sending you the money, now if you have more questions you can call us from the US at 1-800-325-600 thats our number for the Costumer Service. I hope i have answered all your corncerns

How can I get assistance finding work in Europe, via agencies or otherwise

How can I get assistance finding work in Europe, via agencies or otherwise?
I am an Australian citizen who would like to move to Europe. For this I will most likely need to find employment and I'd prefer not to be simply on a working holiday Visa. If it helps, I would be mainly looking for work in the IT industry (where I have qualifications and experience) or any work where the main requirement is fluency in English, but I'm open to any kind of small, yet secure, work. What recruitment/employment agencies are there who, for a fee, will help me find work with employers who are willing to hire someone who is not a resident of their country? Ideally they would be able to provide assistance, to perhaps both myself and the employer, regarding work sponsorship Visas and other legal issues. I have been applying for jobs simply from those advertised on websites but it seems it would be far more efficient to hire an agency who have the knowledge to find positions which may be available to foreigners. That and if they are able to assist with legal issues, employers might be more willing to provide sponsorship. Any ideas on how to find work and sponsorship would be greatly appreciated. I don't mind paying for services if it means I will get results. Below are a list of countries I am most interested in. Thanks. Countries: Austria, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK

If you are a US citizen, you don't need a vias; you can visit for up to 90 days on a visa automaticaaly granted when you show up at the airport in Austrai (passport control's stamp is the vias). I fyou arn't a US citizen and your country reuires a visa for Austrians, then it is likley tha tAustria requires a visa for you. You have to go to an embassy or consulate and talk to them about. There is no way that a Yahoo answer forum can find a way aorund that. My one suggestion is if you can't jsut get a visa, find a festival or some other event and try to get invited to it.

There is no way that you may sponsor your adult son to come to Austria. If he wants to reside in Austria he will have to qualify for a residence permit on his own merits (student, worker). Only dependents can get a family residence permit (Familiennachzug); those are: • spouse or registered partner above 21 years • children below 18 years • other dependents if they have lived in the same household and are financial dependent Source(s): http://www.bmi.gv.at/cms/BMI_Niederlassung/Allgemeine_Informati/Familienangehoerige_von_EWR_Buergern_und_Schweizern_die_nicht_in_Anspruch_genommen_haben_11.pdf ..(in German) http://www.bmi.gv.at/cms/bmi_niederlassung/ ..(in German)

I recommend Forever Living Products - you can do as many or as few hours as you like and typically on 1-2 hours a day you will earn £1200 per month after 5 months and £30-£40k per year after 2-3 years - if you do more hours you should get more. They are a $2 billion company growing at 25% per year and need a lot more people - no investment required also, regulated by Dti and Office of Fair trading and have investors in people award also. link is: www.efi-international.com

German artist who did ink drawings, one of an alligator ice skating?
This is driving me crazy! I can't think of the name of an artist, not a contemporary one, who was male and from either Germany or Austria. He worked with ink on paper and had a dark sense of humor, and a lot of his drawings were of things like a naked woman passionately kissing someone in old-timey diving gear or hippopotamuses doing ballroom dancing. He was especially fond of crocodiles. Does anyone know who he is?

I saw a similar question a few minutes ago, and there was an answer that said that you can go and work in a country that is in the EU if you have citizenship in another country that is also in the EU. Well i do, so would be better to build my career in US or Europe?I know those countries are really nice, so should i work here and then retire there, or would it be ok if i moved there to wrok after i get my diploma?

I think Luxemburg is the best (less taxes)

Just follow your hearth. Nobody can predict how the world will look like in 10 years. If you think you will make a good career US is the best option. You have to take in account too the language barrier in the beginning. All the countrys you mentioned are Dutch, french or German speaking. Switzerland is even not a member of European Union, so the rule of the membership is not valid there. Europe is more social and the cultural Facilities are wider. The pesion is much higher in europe (but who knows what it will be in 10 years...) comparing a Belgian/french company with a US-company based in belgium: a european company is more hierarchical structured. I know nobody who went live and work in Luxembourg because of tax reasons because the money you saved that way, you will have to spend on living.

What visa would I need if I live in Austria yet travel through out Europe for an American company

What visa would I need if I live in Austria yet travel through out Europe for an American company?
My wife has a work visa through her company (which is based in Austria) that I am linked to. I will be an outside sales rep for an American company with no offices outside the U.S. My job will require extensive travel through out Europe and Asia. Our permanent residence will be in Austria.

Get a Schengen visa to travel to Europe.

If you are going to be a permanent residence of Austria, you will need both a work permit and a residency permit. If your wife's company can organize both permits for you, you are all set. Having an Austrian residency permit will allow you to travel through all countries in the Schengan zone. Here you can read more about the Schengan Zone: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schengen_Agreement If the residency and work permits are NOT organized for you, and if you are not a citizen of the EU, you will find it difficult to get these permits. In this case, consider setting up your own company which will hire you. Once you have your own company, this usually is enough to get residency and work permits. However, this will be costly and must be done with a lawyer. Finally, with a US passport, you will be able to live in Schengan area for 90 days of 180 days with no visa at all. But after 90 days, you must leave the Schengan area. But if you are working and living there on a permanent basis, you should get residency and work permits. Otherwise, you will find things difficult in the long run.
