You can apply online for a Working Holiday Visa: https://www.ecom.immi.gov.au/visas/applyNow.do?form=WHM First Working Holiday (subclass 417) For people aged 18 to 30 years of age, who are interested in a working holiday of up to 12 months in Australia. Alternatively, if you are visiting for three months but not working in Australia, you can apply for an eVisitor or e676 Tourist Visa: http://www.immi.gov.au/e_visa/visitors.htm (British citizens can apply for either one.) The eVisitor allows visitors to travel to Australia for short term business or tourism purposes for up to three months. https://www.ecom.immi.gov.au/visas/app/uu?form=TV <-- Apply for eVisitor here. The e676 Tourist visa allows people to visit Australia for holiday, sightseeing, social or recreational reasons, to visit relatives, friends or for other short-term non-work purpose. Tourist visas are available for a stay of three, six or 12 months. https://www.ecom.immi.gov.au/visas/app/uu?form=VSS <-- Apply for e626 Tourist Visa here.

I assume you mean Australia rather than Austria and you say you're living in the UK, but what is your country of citizenship? If you're a UK citizen or are from almost any other European country, you need an eVisitor visa which you can get online, free of charge from the Australian government immigration website: http://www.immi.gov.au/visitors/tourist/evisitor/ If you're from the USA, Canada or any other non-European Visa Waiver Program country, you need an ETA - cost is AUD$20: http://www.eta.immi.gov.au/ If you're from any country not covered by the above, you need a subclass 676 Tourist visa. Cost is AUD$105. See How to Apply for details of how to lodge your application: http://www.immi.gov.au/visitors/tourist/676/ It would have been much easier if you had told us your country of citizenship.

Can A Native German Speaker Translate This For Me, Please?
Hello, Yes, I would like to write with you. San Francisco is a great city. There are a lot of fun things to do here and the city is big, so you can always find something new to do! At this time, I don't have any German speaking friends but I would like to have some. I have searched on Craigslist but I haven't had any luck. I would like to visit Spain someday. What do people do for fun in Spain? How is the weather where you are now? Today, it is cloudy and it has been raining here and there. Did you move to Spain for work? Are you from Austria? Until then! N. (Thank you for your help!)

Why is Austria so civilized

Why is Austria so civilized?
There is very little crime, everything works properly, people obey the traffic laws, children are pleasant and respectful, it's almost unreal. I don't think it's religion, because while Austria is more religious than the UK it is less so than the US. Yet going to either of those countries after visiting Austria is like a visit to the zoo. All that sensuality, aggression, body-pride and body-shame... I don' t think it's because it's so small (as in "small is beautiful") because Ireland is also small, yet Ireland is more like the UK and the US. Is it because Austrians are not allowed to beat their children, so you don't get that culture of violence? Or because the schools are better? Or because of the social safety net? Or are there ethnic reasons? Or because "high culture" is more prevalent than "mass culture" in Austria.? Or because the default value is order (rather than freedom in the Anglo-Saxon countries)? A lot of this could also be applied to Scandanavia as well. Em please read questions carefully and don't make assumptions about where people are coming from. I am not Austrian. I did not say there is no crime in Austria. And I am aware (a) that there was a holocaust and that (b) people have been punished for denying it.

You just have to be joking!!! No better no worse than most European countries. Blowing your own trumpet is only done as a propaganda weapon and you only need to do that if you have an inferiority complex!!! Well apart from the fact it has an awful lot of Nazi sympathisers and right wing extremists. Say what you will the world still has a watchful eye on Austria!!!
2 :
hmmmm ! don't they also put people in gaol for passing politically incorrect opinions and fine them who was that guy they put in the slammer for three years for denying the allegation of the Holocaust

So I wonder what caused a group of AUSTRIAN Nurses to kill 23 patients over a number of years in a old folks nursing home?? There is crime in Austria commited by Austrians. There are social problems in Austria, and there are Prisons in Austria with Austrian inmates.
4 :
To a certain extent Austria is quite civilized. The church played a role in forming the respect for others. There is the typical germanic desire for order and cleanlyness here too. Crime rates are low here but there are robberies and break ins as well. The violent crime involving teens is on the rise here just like in Germany and other European countries but not near the likes of the USA. Austrians (as well as many other nations) are not allowed to beat their children but there is still a spare the rod and spoil the child mentality here too. The "high culture" is prevalent here and is constantly being practiced (concert music, opera, theater and the traditional music) and does add a fine touch to the country. There is a slow advance of mass culture making its way into the European life style. (shopping malls, fastfood and mass cosumption) Austrian is in the middle of this "culture shift" too. Austrian is a very modern country. It has devoloped many renovative products and technologies. Thank god there is also a culture of preserving the old ways and people are involved in organic farming and are sceptical of big business agriculture(gene munipulation). The social system is very good in Austria. I think that with the higher taxes, you buy a good standard of living for all. I am an American and have been living in Austria for 17 years. I could only dream of the benifits the people get here as an American!!! (€379.-- tuition for University, free health care, perscription drugs €4.50 per Med., 5 weeks vacation a year, finacial assistance for first time home buyers etc....). When the government looks after its citizens and they feel secure, they can develop and prosper without fear. Austria is not perfect, but it is a good country to live in!

true = once u reach a certain level of devt, your stomach is filled with more than enough, we start going for the higher level of sublimity! just some observation - in the 1980s i was there, probably they were still reaching tt lvl - a spoke to a street vendor selling hot dogs how much he earns - he said enough to keep going and at nights he works in a bar to supplement his income. i'm not white - went to a supermart - lady cashier - stocky in the 50s was not polite at all! country is beautiful, much cleaner than other european cities. airport staff were very friendly. and if u take the train to the outskirts of vienna - its more charming! if only nations will strive to that level

Your perceptions of Austria and Scandinavia seem somewhat skewed by your personal experiences. You may be right. However, I disagree with your premise. Therefore, I cannot justify it in any manner.

Well recent event could say other wise. I believe some Austrian soldiers got fired and/or jailed for doing the Hitler salute. That's not civilized. Maybe they don't have a very multi-cultured society like other countries such as the UK or US, thus not dealing with race issues. Or I could be wrong. My two cents.

try to call costumer service and ask them what area code to dial and how to text people from europe i called costumer service and helps allot
2 :
You will need the exact code. You input their exact number as if you was going to call them. It should work unless you do not have the privilege to text outside the US. It may also take some time for them to receive the text message. Remember Austria has a difference time zone so it might be early or late morning.. If they don't reply they can be busy or sleeping. DON'T FORGET YOU GET CHARGED EXTRA FOR TEXTING TO ANOTHER COUNTRY, UNLIMITED OR A TEXTING PLAN DOES NOT COUNT TOWARDS IT...
3 :
Its 011 plus country code or + and the country code. Leave out any zeros at the beginning of the number such as 011430789 would be incorrect it would be 01143789 would be the correct way. Or Verizon doesn't support international texting to their specific mobile carrier in Austria.

If I become certified to teach in Alaska, how difficult would it be to get work elsewhere in the US

If I become certified to teach in Alaska, how difficult would it be to get work elsewhere in the US?
I've lived in IL all my life and have always wanted to see other places. I'm attending my first year at a jc this fall, and I've just started looking for places I'd like to finish my schooling. Since I have no particular college in mind, I thought, hey, why don't I go somewhere interesting? I've been interested in seeing Alaska for a few years now. I started looking at colleges there. But I don't know how it would work when I got home (IL) and tried to find a job. Would going to Alaska create a lot of problems for me, what would I have to do so I could teach in IL/anywhere if I did go to Alaska? P.S. In case anyone suggests I do a study abroad program at a college in my state, I'm already planning a trip through my jc to Austria. I've been saving since middle school, and I don't think I'd be able to pay for two abroads.

Most states practice something called reciprocity, which makes it easier to get a job in another state. For example, when I became licensed to teach in the District of Columbia, I became eligible for reciprocity in 30 different states. It helped that American University's education program was nationally certified, though Hawaii only required that my program be regionally certified. When I moved to Hawaii, I did have to take an extra Praxis exam that was not required in DC. Ironically, I had to take one of my Praxis exams again. Although I'd beat the cutoff score for Hawaii by about 12 points, I'd missed the DC cutoff by one point, and I had to be licensed in DC before I could be licensed in Hawaii.

I need some advise on where would be better to move, live, work and raise my son

I need some advise on where would be better to move, live, work and raise my son!?
I am planning to move to Europe next year, and I'm debating which country should I choose. I'm looking into Austria, Denmark, Switzerland and maybe the Netherlands, but can't decide which one would be the best as far as work, education, social welfare etc. My country of origin is also a part of the European Union (if that matters), and I am a Bachelor of Business Administration. Have been working for the Hilton hotels for about 7 years, so I thought it should't be that hard to get a job at a Hilton property in any of those countries. My problem is that I speak only English language, so that's why I need to find a country where English is widely used, (I know that eventualy I'll have to learn the local language). Any advises on that please would be great! Thank You

1. if you are able to understand German television, you will be able to communicate in German too. There are plenty of free to air channels on ASTRA 19.2° East. 2. It is easy to find jobs anywhere in Germany, except for some regions in East Germany. Employers will not so much fancy your German language skills or you law degree but the fact that you are a native English speaker. It usually starts with a 6 month apprenticeship (paid or unpaid). If you want to stay in law, a good idea could be Munich because of the European Patent Office, Hamburg because of the International Sea Court , Vienna because of the UN or Frankfurt because of the finance sector. 3 Ultimately you should consider attending an International Business School in Germany. They teach in English. 4. If you just want to learn German, go to Berlin because that's where everybody is going. Good luck!

In which state or city would you find the Europark? 3. Why did people think Mad King Ludwig wsa mad? - Was it because he spent huge amounts of money on his castles? 4. Also, how did he die? - I know he was found in a lake with Dr. Bernhard, and some think he could be murdered. Any ideas on this? 4. A German classical composer and where they lived? (other than Johann Sebastian Bach) 5. What is the people's car of the Germans? - Is it Volkswagen? 6. What do people mostly drink in the Oktoberfest? 7. What are two German food specialities? 8. Name two German words that we now use in English. Please help, and name some sources of your information, thanks in advance.

1. Dänemark, Niederlande, Belgien, Luxemburg, Frankreich, Schweiz, Österreich, Tschechische Republik, Polen 2. Europark doesn't exist in Germany. If you meant Europapark, there's two. One is a theme park in Rust, near Freiburg, the other is located in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee. 3. That's one reason, but he also really behaved strange, like installing a lift to the kitchen so he didn't have to see his servants or taking spontaneous trips by sled or carriage in the middle of the night. 4. Noone really knows how he died. What you stated is the common version. 4. Richard Wagner (born in Leipzig 1813), Felix Mendelssohn Bartoldy (born in Hamburg 1809), Johann Pachelbel (born in Nürnberg 1653) 5. People's car is translated Volkswagen, yes. Although nowadays it's just a brand like any other (BMW, Mercedes, Ford and so on) 6. Simple: beer 7. Bratwurst, Schnitzel, Sauerkraut (to fulfill the clichee) Seriously: Try Rollmops and Saumagen. (Both can be found on english Wiki if you have no idea what they are.) 8. Angst, Bratwurst, Rucksack, Stillstand, Wunderkind, Zeitgeist
2 :
Hmmm, maybe you should be doing your homework yourself???
3 :
I'd like to add a few details to what has already correctly been answered: to 3 and 4: No, not because he spent so much money on his castles, but because he allegedly committed suicide. This, in his days and in the Catholic religion, would have been an unforgiveable sin, unless, well: You were declared mad, because a madman -- due to his naiveté of mind -- can't commit any sin. So declaring him mad was, in those days, the only way to restore his reputation after he had drowned himself in the lake. to 5: There is no typical "Volkswagen" (people's car). Some drive Mercedes Benz, some Audi (which many people like). I used to drive Fords, but now have a Toyota. My next one will probably also be Japanese. I had a VW van once, but only for transportation and vacation purposes. Although "Volkswagen" translates as "people's car", it is no longer a real people's car manufacturer, and other brands have proven as reliable and sometimes cheaper. to 6: Soft drinks should be the right answer. Many people come there with kids, and they get thirsty and the parents don't want to get drunk in the presence of their kids, but they all get thirsty on their walk. So soft drinks actually sell better than beer, except in the beer tents, where main business time is in the evening, when the kids are at home with their grandparents or a nanny. to 7: There is no "German" food speciality, but many regional ones. I'm from Bavaria (the Oktoberfest State), and to me it's Hirschbraten mit Spätzle (wild deer with home-made Suebian noodles) and Leberkäs (spiced meat loaf with all ingredients except liver, as the name would imply, available fresh at any Bavarian butcher's store every morning). to 8.: kindergarten, rucksack, waldsterben -- well, I expected you to use "klimawandel" for "climate change" as well. I'm not sure if you already use "handy" for "mobile phone". Maybe you should. Whenever you hear a German talk about a "Handy" (in the correct English pronounciation), he means his cellphone. This pseudo-English word is a genuine German invention. Oh, and could you do me a favor? You're learning German. So whenever you're tempted to use something like "Ubermensch" (Nietzsche) or "Uber-Ich" (Freud), give it the dots: Über and über. I think even the "Fuhrer" has deserved them... [Just a few random thoughts.] --- edit: to 2: "Europark" does exist in Germany, contrary to what che says. The "Europark" is an industrial area located at Kleinmachnow, near Potsdam in the state of Brandenburg, and there at the address "Marktstraße 1" (1, market street) resides Ebay Germany. I can only go to certain websites that will always work, but most will not.

I can only go to certain websites that will always work, but most will not.?
I am in a hotel in Austria using their in-room internet. For some reason, i can't connect to certain websites. For example, www.yahoo.com works great, but www.sherdog.com does not. Gmail works fine, but I can't connect to hotmail. I have pinged those domains from a command prompt and i get perfect replies from the sites that work and the sites that don't time out. www.sherdog is an interesting one because I lost 2 of the packets and 2 came back fine. This is consistent with what happens when I go there with the browser, the page loads sometimes, and sometimes not. www.twoplustwo.com works great, but forumserver.twoplustwo.com doesn't work at all, same when I ping. I think this has something to do w/ being in Europe, the IP they gave me is 10.59.1.94. I think there is an issue with my subnet mask and/or default gateway but I don't know enough about it to know. My settings are all an automatic. Please help me from here... ya, i can ping the sites i can get to, but i can't ping the sites i CAN"T get to...there is no proxy set up on my browser or computer, this issue is specific to the internet here at the hotel, i can take it across the street to a coffee shop and it works fine... this issue occurs with all 3 browsers on my computer, firefox, IE, and safari. here are the ping results so far www.imdb.com works fine www.yahoo.com works fine www.twoplustwo.com works fine www.myspace.com fails www.hotmail.com works fine www.live.mail.com (where hotmail instantly redirects) fails www.united.com fails www.lycos.com works fine www.google.com works fine www.craigslist.org fails www.wikipedia.org is intermittent www.expedia.com fails www.cnn.com fails www.foxnews.com works fine by "works fine" i mean i get 4 quick replies from the ping and the website loads as it should, by "fails" i mean the ping request times out 4 times and the webpage fails to load. I notice that a lot of the sites that won't load have an IP of 169.X.X.X however not always, i haven't picked up on the pattern yet...someone help me out here...thanks i don't think its a hotel policy because my colleague using the same network can go to any website just fine...i think its a glitch with the default gateway it automatically assigns me...which is 10.203.1.1 but it might be a DNS issue, i don't know...thats why I need help. put it this way, if you dont' think you know the answer and are just randomly guessing, you probably don't, I thank you for your input, but the person who knows what the issue is, will know EXACTLY what it is based on the info I've provided....thanks again

If you can ping the host then there's not problem with the ip settings, gateway or dns on your system. Check to see if your browser is set to use a proxy as it sounds as though there's a problem with actually getting the web page not with connecting to the remote host.

Is it that your hotel/hotel's ISP allow you to only access a limited number of websites (or only popular websites)?

Do i need a work permit for an (unpaid) internship program in usa? ( if i have only student visa ) ?
I am planing to attend to MI (musicians Institute) in LA, major is music business... for my career it is important to take part in different internships.. its even more important than the whole program.. i know that the institute guarantees an internship program. i am from austria, and i'll be able to get a student visa for staying in USA.. which doesn't allow me to work i wanted to know if i still can take this internship programs without that work permit (i don't know will it be a paid internship or unpaid) Thanks in advance And happy new year

If it is unpaid then you will have no problems. If it is paid, your employer will have to apply for you, they hate doing this as it is a ton of work. Sometimes the easiest is if they do not pay you but will give you a laptop or some cash at the end. Alternatively, they can give you work on campus. You can do that on your student visa.

How to work in Europe w/ Dual Citizenship

How to work in Europe w/ Dual Citizenship!?
I'm thinking about planning a very long trip to Europe, spending at least 2 weeks in some or all of the following countries: France Austria Germany Netherlands + maybe Italy I have dual citizenship so I have an EU passport as well as a US one. How easy or difficult is it to find temporary work in these countries? By work, I mean simple stuff like retail (for the English-speaking countries), teaching English, and general hospitality service. I'm looking for answers from people with travel experience! I'm also going on relatives' memories that there used to be ways to get temporary employment, such as housesitting, working with college programs in foreign countries (my alma mater, for example), elderly care...etc. I know this is outdated information, so I'm asking: is there any kind of network NOW for this kind of thing, or is it purely a thing of the past?

I think it is extremely unrealistic to think you can get a job in a place you are only going to spend a few weeks in. Why would an employer do that? there are 1000's of unemployed Europeans who are not going to leave so quickly after being hired.
2 :
In several or even all of these countries you are allowed to work if you have an EU passport but do need to register. I know that in the Netherlands it takes about 6 weeks for your tax number to be send to you, and you can only apply for it when you have an official address in the country. That makes it impossible to do some casual work while traveling around. Besides, with the current high unemployment numbers all casual jobs are filled by local people desperate to get some money besides or instead of the dole, which in most countries is not much or will not pay young people who just left school. There is not really a lack of English speakers all over Europe, but you might be able to get some casual (read illegal but not acted against) work as teacher in some of the countries. Work in hospitality is more likely, but most places prefer to hire someone for a whole season, not just for a few days. And with the amount of people who have all paperwork sorted, or are local, you will have to be very lucky if you can get a bit of work. Fruit picking, by its short seasons, might be a better choice, but again, places are checked for hiring only legal workers.
3 :
Well you are allowed to work (if you have an EU passport) in all this countries without restrictions. So more or less (less because if you don´t speak the language...) you have the same chance to get a job like every citizen of this country. As said there are no restrictions, if you are "qualified" enought you will get it if not then not.

Then his AMERICORPS is patterned exactly after Hitler Youth...they would tell the youth their parents were old fogies, give them all the sports equipment they wanted, pay them, feed them... Hilter was ELECTED BY 98% OF AUSTRIANS This is a work up towards dictatorship. Obama is an enemy installed in our white house, and his job is to destroy America. How to search your family history

How to search your family history?
I was interested in looking into my family history but wasn't too sure how, I have tried a couple of online pages but none of them really seemed to work. My mum was born in England and my dad was born in Austria. does anyone have a good website that could help me trace back my family history? i want to know things about my oldest relatives- their jobs, where they lived, how many children they had etc.

you can simply go for your family head and he/she will tell you the whole history.
2 :
Well...I would start at the library. Most, if not all libraries, have a genealogy section and if they don't have what you need they can help you search for the information through other libraries. They will deliver the books and or records to your local library. Also, if you know of any institutions (school, hospitals, jails, jobs, etc.) that your previous family members were involved in you can try to get in contact with them. Some colleges might have some genealogy section in their library too. I hope this helps!
3 :
Research your family history by launching into websites without doing your groundwork first is the reason you are finding it isn't working for you.......start with yourself and work backwards using the records you already have at home and in the homes of your living relations...this website will give you a checklist and information about how to research http://familytimeline.webs.com/recordsin… ...it is free, they are helpful if you get stuck and although UK based everyone researches the same way so it doesn't make any difference...once you have all your groundwork completed you will have a good idea who you are looking for, dates and places and it makes it much easier then to look in records or online in databases.......you will also find you can get back 3-4 generations just from what you already have at home...good luck with your research

Which Straightener? (CHI vs HAI.) And voltage question.

Which Straightener? (CHI vs HAI.) And voltage question.?
Well I can afford both of them with my birthday money and there's only a $10 difference, so I was wondering... which straightener should I get? Chi Ceramic Flat Iron (Original 1" CHI) http://www.folica.com/tools/flat-irons/chi-ceramic-flat-iron-original-one-inch-chi OR.... HAI Convertable Ceramic Flat Iron http://www.folica.com/tools/flat-irons/hai-convertable-ceramic-flat-iron Also, I'll be living in Austria however I'm in America for the summer and they're much cheaper here, so I was wondering what do I need so it works safely in Austria. Well, I use Chi and I LOVE it . It works so good on my hair . European Voltage is different than american, so you might wanna look on the sights and see if you can order for Austria or if they have it especially for European Voltage. Hope this helps. (:
2 :
I know that Chi is a really good product. So I would suggest getting the Chi. My friends have them, I want one, reviews say that they are great. I haven't heard of HAI, so I am not sure about that. I'm more bias about Chi, so I would say get a Chi. ^^
3 :
how about getting the GVP at a sally's beauty supply store. it's just like the Chi or any of those expensive straighteners. mine cost $60. and it works amazing! it straighten's out my hair really well. GVP is like the generic version of a chi. http://www.viewpoints.com/images/review/2009/286/14/1255463998-61888_full.jpg
4 :
I have a CHI and I love it. It get hot quickly and you can get close enough to the root with it. Be careful where you get yourself though. CHI flatiron are so popular that they bootleg them.
5 :
As for the straightener not sure but I bet they both work the same. As for the voltage thing I believe you use 220 over there so you can purchase a adapter that it plugs into and then plugs into the wall and reduces the voltage from 220 to 110.

My wife is from Austria (EU) and I am from the US. What are our options for moving to the UK

My wife is from Austria (EU) and I am from the US. What are our options for moving to the UK?
We're thinking about returning to Europe but don't know about Austria. We both LOVE England, have some friends there, and could envision our future there. Thus the question: What are our options for moving to England? That is, can we simply pack up and move? Would my wife have to be employed in order for me to get a work visa? Or can we move there if I intend to be the primary bread-winner? What if I intend to obtain a graduate degree there? Can we stay while I go to school and then remain there afterward? Would my time in school count toward the five years of residency required before one can apply for citizenship? I appreciate your responses.

Your wife, as an EU citizen, has complete freedom to live and work in the UK, so she can just pack up and move. You don't have that so will have to qualify some other way. What makes it easier is that you can apply as her husband, and that removes any requirement about work visas, student visas or any other such fiddling around. It also means you can get UK permanent residence quite a bit quicker. In all probability you can simply get a residence card as the husband of an EU citizen - see first link below. If this isn't possible, you'd need to get a settlement visa as the husband of an EU citizen wife. The 2nd link below is the relevant information page from the UK Border Agency's web site and you can find your way around the rest of it from there. As the husband of a settled resident, permission to stay would be granted for 2 years in the first place, and if you are still together at the end of that time, you can apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain which, as the name states, gives you permanent residence rights in the UK. If you weren't married, you'd have to wait for 5 years to get that as stated in your question. If you've already been living together for more than 4 years, you might be granted ILR straight away, the one sticking point being that to get ILR, you have to pass the "Life in the UK" test as if you were applying to be naturalised as a British citizen, and you can only take the test in the UK. But you could probably do that on a visit to the UK, which you can do without a visa for up to 6 months anyway. Having got a visa as the husband of a resident wife, you would be completely free to study or work in the UK and being able to support yourselves without having to call on social security would be a key point of your application. Time as a student doesn't count towards the usual five years' residence required for citizenship, but as you would be applying as the husband of your wife rather than as a student, I suspect that doesn't matter in your case. Another little point on that is that if you've been living in the UK or elsewhere in the EU for three years, you'd pay the home student rate of tuition fees, which is usually about a third of the overseas rate - so you might like to think about that when deciding if you want to do a graduate degree immediately after coming to live in the UK or put it off for a while. (I work for the UK government agency that funds further education, so I know the requirement is based on length of residence rather than nationality. EU residence counts because it has to under EU law.) Good luck, and it's nice to hear you love England as much as I do!

You can check out phone books or even search the net for farm websites. If you do decide to come to America about it, then you can ask at feed mills. Most feed mills know just about all the farmers around them, and are up-to-date on their situations. (If they need a farm hand, for example)
4 :
I had also considered going to Australia for an internship. There are a great deal of programs offered. I found a few websites that maybe helpful to you. I would reccomend that if you do decide to go to another country to work you do it through a accredited program instead of just going it alone.

Have you considered the Spanish Riding School there in Austria? They might need a farmhand. You could look in the online newspapers from anywhere and check out the help wanted sections.
6 :
upstate NY as well as the southern states in the U.S have lots of farms.

What was the third Reich's (Germany) land area in 1939

What was the third Reich's (Germany) land area in 1939?
I'd like to know what was the area in kilometers or miles squares. Also, I specify in 1939 because I'm doing a work on the battle of France (mai 1940) and I need to compare France and Germany on different points before the battle. At that time, the Third Reich was also called Greater Germany and the territories of Austria, a part of Poland and the Bohemia/Moravia was comprised in it. Finally, I'd appreciate if you tell me where you found the answer.

Hello! I was taught standard "Deutschland" German, but there really aren't too many differences. 1. "Ja, natürlich bin ich deine Freundin! Ich bin, oder?" (You may want to be careful, lol, because there is no real difference between "friend" and "girlfriend". "Sie ist meine Freundin" can mean "She is my friend" or "She is my girlfriend"...) 2. "Es sieht sehr gut gemacht! Es gefällt mir sehr gut!" 3. "Wie zeichnen man so perfekt?" Here's some stuff that might help you: Thanks = Danke! / Danke schön! You're welcome = Bitte / Bitte schön! Please keep drawing more and more wonderful artwork! = Bitte zeichne immer mehr schöne Kunstwerke! Hello = Hallo! / Guten Tag! How are you = Wie geht's? I'm sorry I can't say more = Entschuldigung dass ich mehr sagen kann nicht.

Studying Chemistry Abroad in Germany/Austria

Studying Chemistry Abroad in Germany/Austria?
Hi there, right now I'm a senior in high school, and I've been accepted to VT as a chemistry major. I know I'd like to do study abroad sometime during college, and thought that Germany or Austria would be the best countries to think about, since I'm in my 5th year of German in high school. I've also visited Germany and Austria in the past on a school trip, and really loved it. The thing is, my university's study abroad program only offers chemistry courses in Germany/Austria in German. I think I would be ok with that, but I was planning on possibly going in my junior year, when physical chemistry is. I'm pretty confident in my German skills, but I don't know how I would fare taking a non-German class in German. I'm also planning on taking a couple German courses at the 300-level in college, so that may help. So, if anyone has experience taking courses in German, was it difficult for you to understand, and do tests and homework? I thought a summer internship may work also

I went through a similar thing in spain In my experience i found it easier to take notes and learn certain vocabualery that would help for my classes. If you struggle then you can always ask the teacher after hours for help. A friend of mine got given a human translator :) but you could just settle for an electronic one, not that you would need it if your taking more german courses :) It will be hard in the first week or two but then you settle down and start understanding more. Plus isnt chemistry basically numbers and math? math is a universal subject :D Good luck with your Chem/ German classes.

You should check out universities @ Norway, Sweden or Finland, as the education is free for International Students like from India. So this would save you from spending lots of money or getting trapped with Education Loan. Just compare it with 25 lakhs tuition fee required to do masters in Australia. So you save 25 lakhs!! Again, do check the official websites, like for Norway it is http://www.studyinnorway.no and search for others. You could have saved a lot of money by doing Bachelors also from Europe. Studies in Europe are way too easy as compared to India. For example, exam answer sheet is of 4 pages only, instead of 32 pages. Professors expect you to write as briefly as possible, and ask 4 question in each exam only.

My life could depend on your response

My life could depend on your response!?
This is a question I have had for some time. I am origionally from Atlanta, GA. I moved to Vienna, Austria three years ago. I love the culture and how one can travel easily to other countries from there. I also have my dad and step-mom there. I am finding it hard to get further with a job because my German is simply not perfect. Even after numerous German courses and lots of money spent. It is also really hard for me to make friends here. They are not so friendly and welcoming like in the states. Also finding a decent guy is ridicoulous. A lot of the men are machos and it is fairly normal for a guy to be married and have girlfriends on the side. Or have numerous girlfriends. They expect the woman to work and equally pay plus do the house work and cooking. I miss having friends and after 3 years here I would like to have a serious relationship. I am 23. With the economy in America it also makes me nervous. The economy here doesn't really seem to have been effected like in many places around the world. What would you suggest? One fear I have is that I only have a highschool degree. In Austria I am working at Mc Cafe; a new concept from McDonald's in competion with Starbucks and other similar coffee places. There I earn 1000 Euros (after taxes) a month. Plus I have a pension plan, 401K, 6 weeks paid vacation per year, and a health plan. the reason I could get a Visa is because my step-mom is Austrian. Getting a Visa to live in Europe isn't that easy. America isn't part of the EU.

Not all Europeans are the same. You say it's easy to travel to other countries from Austria, so maybe you'd have better luck in France, Spain or Italy in finding a job and a man. There is always a language barrier, but many Europeans speak English often better than American-born people, since they are required to learn it in school. And you would still be closer to your parents than if you moved back to the U.S. You might just find that a change of scene is the answer to your problems. I wish you the best of luck!
4 :
Hi! I am sorry to hear about your troubles. Finding a job in Europe is difficult, especially being an American, but all I can say on that subject is to stick with it, and something will come. Network yourself! Get word out that you are searching for a job. There is a place for you, you just have to find it. I have been looking for a job for three months now, so I can say I think you're better off in Austria than coming back here! From what I've learned on price of living there, it sounds like you earn a fairly good amount, along with excellent benefits. On to language. I tried to take German classes, and I have to say it was the most difficult of any language I have tried, so I congratulate you for staying with it. There is an organization I have been looking into that takes students to foreign countries all over the world to learn the native language. Since you are already living there, perhaps you could find their offices or something and find out about taking classes there. They offer classes for all levels of knowledge. Here is the site: http://www.worldlink-education.com/index.html I heard studying overseas is a lot cheaper than in the United States. If you feel like you need to further your education, you should look into universities where you live. For friends, perhaps you could try a pen-pal site I use to communicate with people from other countries. The majority of them are english speaking, so you could just browse through people in your area, and see if they would like to meet up or something. I have heard that german people are very unfriendly, so I hope you have luck with that. The site is: http://www.interpals.net/ As for guys, you are going to find men like that everywhere. Certainly having some friends will expose you to more dating opportunities, and maybe you could even find someone on that pen-pal site :p I hope I have helped you somewhat. Good luck!

By 1750, Prussia and Austria...?
By 1750, Prussia and Austria: a. were competing to develop their overseas empired. b. were battling for control of the German states. c. had taken major steps toward constitutional government. d. had agreed to work together against their chief foe, Russia. I think it's either B or D but I'm unsure. I've looked in my history notes and cannot find this, so please help! Thank you!

I think its B since Germany was never a country until 1871. So both countries competed. Also its not D since there was not much fighting between them. They actually agreed to divide Poland between each other.

Is any of this true about how good bananas are

Is any of this true about how good bananas are??
Never, put your banana in the refrigerator!!! This is interesting. After reading this, you'll never look at a banana in the same way again. Bananas contain three natural sugars - sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fiber. A banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy. Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world's leading athletes. But energy isn't the only way a banana can help us keep fit. It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet. Depression: According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana. This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier. PMS: Forget the pills - eat a banana. The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood. Anemia: High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of hemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases of anemia. Blood Pressure: This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it perfect to beat blood pressure. So much so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit's ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke. Brain Power: 200 students at a Twickenham (Middlesex) school were helped through their exams this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that the potassium-packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert. Constipation: High in fiber, including bananas in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem without resorting to laxatives. Hangovers: One of the quickest ways of curing a hangover is to make a banana milkshake, sweetened with honey. The banana calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up depleted blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates your system. Heartburn: Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body, so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating a banana for soothing relief. Morning Sickness: Snacking on bananas between meals helps to keep blood sugar levels up and avoid morning sickness. Mosquito bites: Before reaching for the insect bite cream, try rubbing the affected area with the inside of a banana skin. Many people find it amazingly successful at reducing swelling and irritation. Nerves: Bananas are high in B vitamins that help calm the nervous system. Overweight and at work? Studies at the Institute of Psychology in Austria found pressure at wor k leads to gorging on comfort food like chocolate and crisps. Looking at 5,000 hospital patients, researchers found the most obese were more likely to be in high-pressure jobs. The report concluded that, to avoid panic-induced food cravings, we need to control our blood sugar levels by snacking on high carbohydrate foods every two hours to keep levels steady. Ulcers: The banana is used as the dietary food against intestinal disorders because of its soft texture and smoothness. It is the only raw fruit that can be eaten without distress in over-chronicler cases. It also neutralizes over-acidity and reduces irritation by coating the lining of the stomach. Temperature control: Many other cultures see bananas as a "cooling" fruit that can lower both the physical and emotional temperature of expectant mothers. In Thailand , for example, pregnant women eat bananas to ensure their baby is born with a cool temperature. Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD): Bananas can help SAD sufferers because they contain the natural mood enhancer tryptophan. Smoking &Tobacco Use: Bananas can also help people trying to give up smoking. The B6, B12 they contain, as well as the potassium and magnesium found in them, help the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal. Stress: Potassium is a vital mineral, which helps normalize the heartbeat, sends oxygen to the brain and regulates your body's water balance. When we are stressed, our metabolic rate rises, thereby reducing our potassium levels. These can be rebalanced with the help of a high-potassium banana snack. Strokes: According to research in The New England Journal of Medicine, eating bananas as part of a regular diet can cut the risk of death by strokes by as much as 40%! Warts: Those keen on natural alternatives swear that if you want to kill off a wart, take a piece of banana skin and place it on the wart, with the yellow side out. Carefully hold the skin in place with a plaster or surgical tape! So, a banana really is a natural remedy for many ills. When you compare it to an apple, it has four times the protein, twice the carbohydrate, three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals. It is also rich in potassium and is one of the best value foods around So maybe its time to change that well-known phrase so that we say, "A banana a day keeps the doctor away!" PASS IT ON TO YOUR FRIENDS PS: Bananas must be the reason monkeys are so happy all the time! I will add one here; want a quick shine on our shoes?? Take the INSIDE of the banana skin, and rub directly on the shoe...polish with dry cloth. Amazing fruit !

Immigration to Germany/Austria - Needed Skills

Immigration to Germany/Austria - Needed Skills?
Hello, Im 19 and I want to go to Europe to work in the future... possibly study abroad as well. Ive always wanted to go to Germany or Austria, I can speak German pretty well almost at a fluent level (ive studied in school for all 4 years) My question is, I know that the immigration laws and work permit laws state that you need to have a job that no other citizen of that country could get or they couldnt find someone of that country for the job. My question is, what are the most needed skills/jobs in Germany/Austria? Thank you. Umm, Im not a Nazi. And the fact you think all Germans are Nazis just shows how ignorant you are. Great to see Europe is no better than America in terms of society and governments. Glad to see all the nationalist facist governments and people we see today. Thanks for your answer, I am out. And I hope your country keeps taking goods and importing them and not giving us any thing for it, and when we stop I hope all of europe's economy goes down along with ours. DOWN WITH FACISM AND IMPERIALISM

Unless you are an EU citizen your chances to get a work visa are close to zero sorry to disappoint you here. Regardless the job the employer has to prove no German or other EU citizen could do the job ! Which is close to impossible to happen. A few chances are . 1) marry a German or other EU citizen! You still need to be fluent in German to get a decent job. 2) Study in Germany and get a German degree you will have a delay of 6 months to search for a job after graduating.
2 :
German will have to be better than fluent. And even so, EU citizens get the first crack at jobs anywhere in Europe.

Disgruntled Babysitter in Austria needs Advice. Am I being ripped off

Disgruntled Babysitter in Austria needs Advice. Am I being ripped off?
I have been living here in Austria for 4 1/2 years. My boyfriend and I have tried numerous times to apply for a visa for me so that I can live and work here legally, but we only get the runaround. My only source of personal income (pocket cash) is Babysitting. My man (saint that he is) handles the bills. Anyways here is my problem: Currently I am working with several families. I charge different prices per hour depending on how many kids they have and quite honestly how much I know they can afford. Some pay more others pay less. I try to be fair to the parents and myself at all times, because lets face it I am not willing to work for tiddlywinks here, and I'm not trying to rip people off. Two of the parents I work with have sons who are classmates (7 year olds). Mom number one pays 7 an hour for her one son. I only see him once a week on wednesday, pick him up from school and play until mom gets home 2 hours later: giving me a whopping 14 euros a week from her. I also add that she is the only parent that pays me so less. Normally I don't take less than 8- but this is a friendship price at this point because I have been watching her kid for 3 years now and don't want to ask for more. Mom number two has the 7 year old and a kindergartner. I charge them 8. Last week they both needed me on wednesday. I arranged to pick up all three boys from school and Kindergarten, and take them to the home of mom number two to play, and mom number one could pick up her son there and I could remain behind with the other two until somebody came home. Fine and dandy, everybody is happy. Everything went according to plan, and it turned out that mom number two would desperately need me again the same time next week, and could we do it again? Mom number one was fine with it, so the deal was sealed. Then came time for payment. Everybody got charged their normal prices. Mom number one payed 14 as usual for 2 hours, and mom two paid 28 for 3 1/2 hours plus a 2 euro tip from their uncle. Why is it then that both moms seemed to feel ripped off? Apparenty since we were doing a tandem babysitting that day, they had the idea that I was going to lower my prices or something. Mom number one told me that " Well, thats just not the way things are done here." This is not the first time this has happened with these two. The first time Mom number one had scheduled a playdate with the other boys, but then mom number two had to work late so I was called in. I charged both moms as usual: but mom number one was upset because her son had been an invited guest in the house and she didn't understand why she should pay. I didn't know about any of that, I just knew that I was going to be babysitting all three. I tried to give her her money back, but after she had made a fuss, she wouldn't accept it. I believe I wound up leaving it on the sideboard in the entry hall. Anyways, I am now upset. I told her that if all three boys were to be dropped off at daycare for example, the daycare would not be making special deals. She told me as a teacher she isn't going to be getting paid more if she has more kids in her class. I just said well I can only talk of my past experiences as a daycare giver watching up to 12 kids from babies to preteens at one time, and every parent has to pay the fee. I also said that I have no idea how things are done normally here in Austria and I wasn't trying to rip anybody off. I now feel like I am the one being ripped off here. The difference between what I do and her teaching is that she gets a salary. I get chump change - often being paid in only/mostly coins. I do a good job and the kids like me. I feel that if they can't handle paying my totally normal and in my opinion not outlandish prices- then its time to look for a new babysitter. I haven't even talked to the other mom yet- tonight -woohoo. They broke off our deal for this wednesday as well- because they both feel that its unfair. But they both still need me! That means that my schedule for tomorrow is thus: -Wake up at 6:30 in the morning to take mom number 2's kids to school and kindergarten. Why, I ask myself, am I getting up this early to do work that will result in 8 euros in my pocket? -pick up mom number one's son at 4-6. -then hot foot it somehow to the home of mom nomber 2 for babysitting at 6:20. They both seem to be fine with this plan. The stupid thing here is that mom number one still has to pay the 14 euros anyways! This is ridiculous. Thank you for reading my rant. I am done now. If you were in my position What would you do, and who here is out of line? If you have any experience with childcare in Austria please share your knowledge so that I might know how things are done here. Thanks a bunch.

Wow, I feel your pain. I've been baby-sitting full-time for the past two years since I graduated from college, and it can be incredibly messy. I don't know if things are different in Austria from experience, but since it's a western, developed country, I expect not. You have to deal with stingy, awkward parent situations like that in the US too, so I wouldn't let them get away with telling you "It's just not the way we do things here." Sounds like an excuse to me. I agree with you. It is ridiculous for these moms to fuss over a few euros when you are a good baby-sitter, they have built a relationship with you, and you are actually putting in the time, regardless of how many children are there at a given time. It is no different from day care (other than you are probably doing a MUCH better job watching these kids than a daycare with multiple children of various ages). If they're unhappy with you, they should look for other childcare. Hopefully they will see how foolish they're being and just pay you. This is your livelihood, and just like any other job, if you're not being paid fairly, you need to do something about it. Your employers should do the right thing and pay fairly, but if they won't, it's not good for you to eat the costs. You sound like a good baby-sitter who can get plenty of jobs. I wouldn't sacrifice for these people any longer if they're not willing to hold up their end of the deal.

Can I work in Europe

Can I work in Europe?
Here's my deal. I was born in Poland, came to Canada at like 11 so I have a dual citizenship. I want to go back to Europe. I was thinking Italy, Greece or Austria. Maybe something else. I'm not firm on anything. I just want a change of lifestyle. Does my dual citizenship help me at all to be able to work in Europe as a nurse? I have a degree. Where can I get the info on this. Thanks.

yes the dual citizenship can help you.

Yes, you just buy a one-way plane ticket and when you get to Europe you start looking for a job. Go to London because you speak the language already and could find a job easily, no one will hire you if you don't speak the language. London is a great city, line Toronto and NYC.
3 :
Yes, Poland is in the EU so you can work in any EU country without a work permit. For most of them, you just need to find a job and when you have one, you apply for a residence permit which is more of a formality, just so they know that you are staying. That does not however mean that you can work as a nurse. Nurses in most countries are subject to licensing so you would have to google the association of nurses or ministry of health in the country you want to go to and find out what you need to do to get licensed. Number 2 is language barriers. It may not be very easy for you to work if you can't understand the patients but if there is a shortage of nurses in that country, they will probably take you anyway, at least as long as you are licensed to work as a nurse already.

A famous composer was born every two years from 1858 to 1864. Claude Debussy was born in France. Gustav Mahler was born in Austria. Giacomo Puccini was born in Italy. Richard Strauss was born in Germany. Debussy was not the oldest. Puccini was 2 years older than Mahler. Strauss was younder than Debussy. Name the year in which each composer was born. Show work
Mathematics - 2 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
You have four dates: 1858, 1860, 1862, 1864. These will be A, B, C, and D respectively. Debussy must be B or C, according to the information given; he can't be A because there's someone younger than him, but he can't be D because he's not the oldest. If Debussy is B, Strauss is A; if Debussy is C, Strauss is B. Now, since Puccini and Mahler are sequential (because they're only separated by two years), Debussy must be B to make room for them. So Strauss is A, Puccini is D, Mahler is C. So, finally... Strauss - 1858. Debussy - 1860. Mahler - 1862. Puccini - 1864.
2 :
Ok there isn't much working to do here but you do have to do a bit of thinking and analyse the language. Firstly, there are 4 composers: Debussy, Mahler, Puccini and Strauss. There fore, there can only be four different years in which each was born but between 1858 and 1864. You can work that out as follows: 1858 will be one then, 1858 + 2 = 1860 will be the other one then, 1860 + 2 = 1862 which will be the third one and finally, 1862 + 2 = 1864 is the last one. So the years are: 1858 1860 1862 1864 Now to analyze the language aspect of it: Puccini was 2 years older than Mahler, this will mean that whichever year from the list that Mahler is born, Puccini is born the year before that one. So this implies that either one of the combinations are true: a) 1858 - Puccini & 1860 - Mahler OR b) 1862 - Puccini & 1864 - Mahler We also know that Strauss is younger than Debussy, this will mean that whichever year from the list that Strauss is born, Debussy is born the year before that one. This implies either one of the combinations below is possible: a) 1858 - Debussy & 1860 - Strauss OR b) 1862 - Debussy & 1864 - Strauss Now, the piece that solves this puzzle is: "Debussy was not the oldest." This then implies that Debussy WAS NOT born in 1858 (because then this will make him the oldest). This therefore cancels off the combination: a) 1858 - Debussy & 1860 - Strauss. Therefore, Debussy was born in 1862 and Strauss was born in 1864. The years 1862 and 1864 are already taken, so this cancels off b) 1862 - Puccini & 1864 - Mahler. Thereofre, Puccini was born in 1858 and Mahler was born in 1860. ANSWERS: Puccini - 1858 Mahler - 1860 Debussy - 1862 Strauss - 1864 To confirm these answers you can easily google their date of births and find that each is in fact accurate! :D Btw Rage Face is wrong because Strauss is younger than Debussy, therefore he cannot possibly have been born before him.

Does drinking help with speaking a foreign language

Does drinking help with speaking a foreign language?
I was at a party with some friends and one of those friends is from Austria. She is fluent in English and German. However, I am learning German by myself and don't know much, but I know some. We started talking in English, then switched to German, and she said my German was perfect and sounded like that of an Austrian. Does my brain work well with languages or was it because of the alcohol?

Drinking won't help with speaking in a foreign language it will make it worse.

I have this weird idea that it MIGHT help with accents because it lowers inhibitions. Most people are self-conscious when they try to reproduce unfamiliar sounds because they think it sounds silly, or are afraid of sounding silly, or something, so getting a bit tipsy to stop worrying about sounding like an idiot might help. Or maybe the local dialect sounds naturally slurred; I wouldn't know. Or see the first answer.

Why don't we hear more about the 'water wizard of Austria',Victor Schauberger's insights into water

Why don't we hear more about the 'water wizard of Austria',Victor Schauberger's insights into water?
After the war in Europe where Schauberger had been ordered by Hitler to create a water than would run on water, he was captured by American forces and brought to the U.S. where he continued to work for many, many years. Why isn't this research into water made available? His theory is short: there is a force in water that runs counter to the way the water is flowing -z/b: the fish hypothetically swimming upstream against the current, is in fact catching a ride! Like on an escalator. The fish has learned how to board this current and actually rides it upstream. Wilhelm Reich was well aware of Schauberger's work, and some say incorporated these ideas into his work with the 'cloudbuster'; that in fact the back of the barrel was pointed (or plugged into) against an underwater current of water, the 'current' acting to fuel the cloudbuster. I want to know why a more serious look at Schauberger's ideas isn't being undertaken by research universities around the globe?

Oh, where to begin? We don't hear more of Schauberger or Reich because their work has already been debunked by the scientific community. While Schauberger's work on aircraft engines surely helped with the Nazi war effort, his implosion technology never took off, so to speak -- the Russians and Americans confiscated his work after the war, and we haven't seen anything come out of it since then. As for Reich, his "orgone" machines didn't actually do anything at all -- he claimed that water possessed a natural energy (colored blue, incidentally) that he could harness to control the weather with orgone collecting devices. No one will bother spending time and resources researching a technology already declared completely false.
