We're not even in a depression today, but we hear a backlash against immigrants (some illegal) taking jobs. And the 1930's was an even more racist time - it was completely legal to specify the race, religion, gender, etc. of an open position.

D. is the answer that "they" want, but actually none of these are true. There was sufficient prejudice against Jews that even though the Allied nations knew about the restrictive laws and "work" camps in Germany, they did not relax immigration standards. For an interesting view of the subject, read "The Yiddish Policemen's Union" by Michael Chabon.

some countries did on a strict basis Britain took in children, but remember all Europe was suffering the ,the depression was at it's height when Hitler came to power lots of Jews manage to get out of Germany when Hitler came to power so why did so many stay and do not say because they were poor many industrial Jews stayed in Germany

The same reason I suspect that they have been expelled from over 109 countries over 2000 years. They created problems in all of the countries they lived in. e.g Communism was a Jewish invention and this lead to the deaths of millions under Stalin, Trotsky and other Jews. Jews were also instrumental in the African Slave Trade were over 50 million slaves died. People regarded their involvement in commerce as a corrupting influence particularly in light of the fact that they were one of the few groups charging exorbitant interest rates - usury (permitted in their religion).
