Mountainous Regions of France and Work

Mountainous Regions of France and Work?
Hi there, I am trying to find out, what parts are the most mountainous and popular. By this I mean, what are some major cities that are situated in/near mountains? Also, are there any cities in particular that generally have more jobs than other areas? I am planning to go to France to work, and I would prefer to be in the mountains (grew up in Austria), but mainly I am looking for a nice city that may offer a decent job. Any knowledge you can share about France would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

Look in the Rhone-Alpes area, I lived in Lyon, the closest big city to the mountains but it isn't in the mountains. The mountains are a day trip. Grenoble looked quaint and fun, I would want to live there, nestled in the mountains, has a university. Geneve is surrounded by mountains. That's what I know, look up a map with mountains shown -topographical maps - online there is some topography in http://www.franceproperty - and - information.com/map/ offrance and better information about the cities, how large, the kind of business, tourist oriented jobs perhaps, on Justtourfrance.com - Look up Lyon for a nice not obnoxious big city for jobs, and then nestled in the mountains are Geneve, not far from there smaller towns like Chamonix, Aix-les-Bains, Annecy, Annemasse, Chambery and Grenoble is a little bigger. Its called the Rhone-Alpes area. Wish I were getting a job in any of these places. Good luck. Oh yes, they like you better if you speak french and the paper work is unreal, the economy is hard to get a job in if you are a foreigner normally, probably more so now. The food is great around Lyon, people are a little more conservative but also friendly, the weather is great. Shopping in Lyon and near by is fairly easy. Big metro transport, trains are easy too. I loved driving through Austria to Vienna.

There is a place called Chamoniox in France. This is located around the French Alps into the Swiss Alps. You are able to take a tram that goes from one Alps to the other up from the small village of Chamonix but be prepared fro the cold weather! It can get very cold up there!!!
